About Us

Woolworths Double Bay Parking; Double Bay village; Double Bay residents

OUR PURPOSE

Double Bay is once again a vibrant bayside village.

It provides an intimate and refreshing shopping experience with leafy streets and mottled sunlight, as well as a distinctive and elegant after dark ambience. Whether it's high-end shopping, walking the dog, relaxing on the beach, watching the vibrant street life or staying overnight, there are many things you can do in the Double Bay village; and going to the movies may once again become an option.

The Woolworths Double car park is at the center of one cornerstone development. There will probably be others and each must carefully balance the needs of business owners, residents, locals and visitors, and maintain the stylish characteristics of our bayside village. This website seeks your support to ensure that the congestion and safety controls for the Woolworths Double Bay car park remain effective, and in so doing help to ensure that future developments in Double Bay do not create a situation where local businesses and the community are left carrying a burden after the developer has moved on.

WHO ARE WE

We are a group of business owners who live and work in Double Bay.

Our children go to local schools and we support local service providers including doctors, dentists, dry cleaners, florists, butchers, bakers, baristas, hair salons and many others. We, and our visiting friends, also enjoy the new facilities offered as part of Kiaora Place as well as many of the boutique stores in the village. We are also active community participants supporting surf rescue, music, visual arts, children sports and other social activities.

However, it is evident to us that something is not quite right about the Kiaora Place development. For a car park to grow from 145 spaces to 459 spaces and at the same time lose 2 of its 5 entrance lanes is a step backwards. On the one hand growth is being encouraged but on the other hand the mechanisms to facilitate this growth safely are being taken away. In the end we all suffer. Whether you are a local business owner, a shopper, a resident or a visitor, if you are driving you want to avoid congestion; and, if you are walking you want roads that you and your children can safely and easily cross.
